Abstract:
Split ring resonator (SRR) periodic array was embedded into conventional dielectric to realize the left-handed properties over the band of 5.2~7.7 GHz. This design overcomes the disadvantages of the conventional patch antenna, such as the big size, narrow frequency band, and low gain. It also could control the antenna center frequency by changing the orders of the split ring resonator. By employing the software of high frequency simulation (HFSS), the relation between antenna parameter and the gap size of SRR unit as well as the order of array could be determined and optimized antenna design be realized. Simulation of the antenna design was carried out and the results show that the proposed design could effectively lessen the antenna size, reduce the loss of echo, expand the working band, and realize the tunable design.
