Abstract:
To analyze the spacial distribution of UV radiation from liquid rocket engine plume, a 3-D numerical model has been built. The standard
κ-ε model and probability density function (PDF) model were adopted to compute the flow-field properties of the plume. Combined with HITRAN database, the distribution of absorption coefficient was calculated, and the radiation transfer equation could be solved by the discrete ordinate method. Test results show that the 3-D computation model can provide numerical data that agree well with measured experimental data. It also could reflect the spacial distribution of UV radiation from the hydrogen-oxygen rocket engine plume at different angles of view.
