Abstract:
Standard k ε model, RNG k ε model with wall function, and a low Reynolds number k ε model are used in the numberical prediction on the mean flow velocity, turbulent kinetic energy and Nusselt number disribution of a semi confined axisymmetric turbulent impinging jet. The results are compared with experimental data from reference. It shows that all of the three turbulence models cannot predict accurately the flow structure and heat transfer characteristics of an impinging jet. The standard k ε model and RNG k ε model yield very poor agreement with the experimental data, while the prediction given by the RNG k ε model compares much closer to the experimental data.
