Abstract: Aim To analyse the characteristics of government purchasing market and the necessity of opening China's government purchasing market to help China to follow the current trend of international economy and trade. Methods Combined analysis of theories and policies and comparative analysis were adopted. Results and Conclusion Based upon the analysis of the current situation of domestic and foreign economy, it is emphasized that opening process should be realized step by step, namely in the sequence of preparation stage, partial openness stage and openness stage. National government purchasing mechanism is to be established on the basis of local and central government pilots. Also, it is pointed out that the opening scope, threshold price and purchasing method must be rationally determined, and domestic industries must be strengthened in the opening process.
