Abstract: This paper deals with the problems involved in the design of the air gun accelerator capable of generating very high acceleration. These problems include methods of calculation of the ballistic parameters and of the shock acceleration, and related methods in experiment design.This air gun accelerator is mainly used for the study of the capability of sustaining high overload for the gun launched terminal guided projectile( GLTGP) and its parts. The accelerator can also be used for the study of the capability of upholding shock for variant kinds of materials.
