Abstract: In this paper the effects of elliptic cutouts on the buckling load of circular cylindrical shells subjected to axial compression is investigated by way of experimental methods. Based on the experimental results, empirical formulas are provided for the determination of the critical buckling load of the cylindrical shell having elliptic holes.
