Abstract: The higher educational institutions undertake the great task of fostering advanced personnel with abilities, so it has to not only pay more attention to the cultivation of the students' innovation and their mastery of knowledge, but pay special attention to the development of their sense of the national duty and of mission, to the cultivation of their contribution spirit and ideological diathesis. Therefore it is necessary to enforce the popularity of history education among them. This paper discusses the basic function of history education and the importance of the popularity in colleges, and also discusses the contents and methods of the related teaching.
