Abstract
The method of applying multibody system dynamics to the simulation of valve trains' kinematics and dynamics properties is presented, and used in the analysis of 4102QB engine's side mounted valve train. The results show that it is needed to optimize its cam profile. Thus four style Ⅰ multiple cam profiles with different parameters, two polynomial profiles and one multi cycloid profile are designed and applied to the valve train's multibody system dynamics model. By comparing the analysis results, a reasonable cam profile is obtained.
